Privacy Policy

The Imade College Owo Old Students Association (IMACOSA, "we", "us", "our") runs the membership website at imacosa.org. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We handle your data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA).

1. Information we collect

When you register as an IMACOSA member, we collect your name, year set and contact details (such as email address and phone number).

When you pay dues or other fees, we receive confirmation of the payment, the amount, the date and a payment reference. Card and bank details are entered on Paystack's secure pages and are never stored on our servers. If you pay by bank transfer, we record the details you give us so we can match the payment to your membership, such as your name, the amount, the date and the transfer reference.

When you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address so we can send you IMACOSA news and updates. You can ask us to remove you from the list at any time.

When you use the site, we may collect basic technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, to keep the site secure and working properly.

2. How we use your information

• To create and manage your membership account
• To process and confirm payments
• To run the member directory (see section 3)
• To send you association news, events and notices
• To keep the site secure and prevent fraud or misuse
• To meet legal obligations

3. The member directory

The directory has two levels of visibility:

• Public: anyone visiting the site can see a member's name and year set.
• Members only: other details in your profile are visible only to people who are logged in as IMACOSA members.

If you do not want your details shown, contact us at the address below and we will review your request.

4. Payments

We accept online payments through Paystack and payments by bank transfer. Paystack processes online payments under its own privacy policy and security standards. We only receive the information needed to confirm and record your payment.

5. Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

• Paystack, to process online payments
• Service providers who host or support this website, under confidentiality obligations
• Authorities, where the law requires it

6. How long we keep your information

We keep your membership records for as long as you are a member and for a reasonable period afterwards for record-keeping, accounting and legal purposes. We delete or anonymise data we no longer need.

7. Your rights

Under the NDPA you may ask to access your data, correct it, object to certain uses, or have it deleted where the law allows. You may also lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including restricted access to member details and secure payment processing. No online system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above shows the latest version.
